Dr. Kamali: Principal
Dr. Iman Kamali Sarvestani received his PhD in Computer Science, with a specialization in Computational Neurosciences before doing two post-doctoral fellowships in University of Toronto. Beside being the founder and principal of Laureates Academy for Gifted Students, he is teaching some high school math and physics courses at school too.
Nazgol Shahbandi, MSc.: Head of Mathematics, Computer and Data Science Department
Mrs. Nazgol Shahbandi received his bachelors with honors degree in Industrial Mathematics from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. She continued her studies in Canada and achieved her masters degree in Applied Mathematics with a specialization in Mathematical and Stochastic Modeling from University of Waterloo. She has held research fellowships with University of Toronto, Toronto and Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. Nazgol is passionate about gender equality and believes in an achievable better world with more diversity and inclusion. She is an active mentor for female professionals in multiple organizations including Prosperity Project and Rosie’s Mentoring Program. Beside being a lead data scientist at Ontario Power Generation company, she is the head of Science and Math Departments in Laureates Academy for Gifted Students.
Ms. Nina: Head of Education
Nina received her B.Sc in Biology with a concentration on laboratory medicine. Beside supervising the overall educational processes in Laureates Academy for Gifted Students, Ms. Nina is teaching Elementary Mathematics and Science too. Her kind, yet strong character has made her a role model for many of our students. She encourages experiment-based education in science and concept-based education in math.
Ms. Megan: Head of Music Department
Megan Yim has been teaching music, French and English for over 12 years with and a diverse academic background in English, French, and Marketing from the University of Toronto and Schulich School of Business in Toronto, Canada. She holds the Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance and the Associates in Piano Pedagogy in Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced Levels with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has received the Provincial Gold Medal and the Adelmo Melecci Scholarship from the RCM for achieving the highest standing within the province and country, respectively.
Megan is also the author of the best selling and award winning book, Vignettes of a Pianist. Megan’s approach to her classes is developing and curating a curriculum filled with resources and activities that best suit the student’s skills. She believes that no two students are alike, and that each student deserves the attention and time to understand what is truly needed to guide a quality education. She is currently the head of the Music Department in Laureates Academy for Gifted Students.
